Abercastle Campsite

Garn Isaf Pembrokeshire Camping Night Sky

Abercastle Campsite offers spacious pitches which include campfire pits and picnic tables. It is surrounded by traditional earth banks which encourage wildlife to visit. At night, the sky is sometimes caressed by the loom of the Strumble Head lighthouse. On a clear night the night sky is just amazing.

Abercastle Campsite (formally known as Garn Gwely Campsite) is set on the small holding of Garn Isaf, Abercastle. It sits in a picturesque location just 5 – 10 minutes walk from the tiny fishing harbour and beaches of Abercastle and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

It is in the heart of Pembrokeshire National Park, Wales, the only coastal National Park in the United Kingdom and close to St Davids.

Abercastle Campsite a CL (Certified Location) campsite, with extremely large individual pitches, with many of them surrounded by traditional Pembrokeshire banks, each one with its own picnic table and camp fire, water tap and electric hook up ( there is an additional charge for use of the hook up) where you can spend the evening just relaxing, exchanging stories, singing and playing instruments, melting marshmallows, cooking stick bread or some delicious local catch of mackerel, crab or lobster.

Abercastle Campsite is surrounded by stunning scenery and a plethora of wildlife habitats.

St Davids Holiday Cottages Garn Isaf

We are a quiet site so everyone can enjoy their camping holiday. ( No loud music, a no radio site ( meaning the volume of music is low so no other pitches or the properties of Garn Isaf can also hear your music!).

Garn-Isaf-Dogs-Welcome-Pembrokeshire-Cottage-and-Self-CateringWe are a dog friendly site and dogs are very welcome, but please be mindful that there are other guests and to keep your dog under control at all times, out of courtesy. We also have 4 sheep ( The Ladies – Tinkerbell, Snowy, Cinders and Mary) and 1 Shetland Pony, April. These will be in the front field and would not be impressed if dogs come into their field!

We are just minutes walk away from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and Abercastle beach ( also one of many dog friendly beaches around us) and a short distance from St. David’s. For families who enjoy camping, it is the ideal location.

We now have WiFi on the campsite to enable campers to access emails and to do searches ( you will not be able to do streaming on it though) so you can still access the outside world but not have it take over your holiday!

Our site is exclusive to Greener Camping Club Ltd members, membership is done at the time of your booking, we will do this for you and is only £12 to join. With your £12 membership fee a tree is planted which goes to creating greener habitats which we at Abercastle Campsite think is really lovely and are all about.

We have a 15 pitch site, each with its own picnic table and fire pit. We can only have 5 in total Caravans and / or Camper Vans so please book early to ensure you can have a pitch. We will keep to a maximum of 11 to 13 pitches on the site to ensure we keep that lovely feeling of a small, quiet and relaxed campsite. Really only going to this number during the Whitsun and Summer School Holidays.

We ask guests to arrive after 4pm and on departure days, leave by 10am in order that ground maintenance & cleaning can be undertaken. At times when it is not busy these times are more relaxed and agreed prior to your holiday.

  • BOOKINGS AND AVAILABILITY FOR 2024 – Bookings / Reservations being taken.

Prices for 2024

Throughout the year we offer weekly pitches ( A pitch is classed as either for one tent, caravan, campervan or a trailer tent). Week pitches are from Saturday to Saturday.

Open from March 23rd 2024

Short Breaks are available so please ask and say what you are looking for to see if we can accommodate your request.

Cost per week per pitch is,

  • £250 ( up to 4 people in same pitch) when using your own facilities, ( you have your own toilet, shower and washing up facilities). There is a separate water and electric hook up ( additional charge for the use of the hook up) and picnic table with a fire pit are on each pitch and there is a chemical disposal point for all to use.
  • £275 for up to 2 people, you have use to the permanent facilities* to use, that includes a toilet, shower and washing up facilities. As with all pitches you have your own water tap, electric hook up ( additional charge for the use of the hook up) and picnic table with a fire pit are on each pitch.
  • £300 for up to 4 people, you have use of the permanent facilities* to use, that includes a toilet, shower and washing up facilities. As with all pitches you have your own water tap, electric hook up ( additional charge for the use of the hook up) and picnic table with a fire pit are on each pitch.

For a pitch with more than 4 people in it there is an additional charge of £35 per extra person for the week, maximum number per pitch is 6 people, any more people then it counts as another pitch.

Electric hook up can be booked at £45 per week or £7 per night if required ( this is a 10 amp fused supply).

Please enquire about availability if you wish to stay for a shorter period. If there is availability the pitches are charged at from £35 – £40 per night for 2 people.

If you are on foot walking the coastal path and do not have a car with you, the cost for your pitch would be £15 a night per person.

Group discounts or whole sight bookings may be available throughout the year. Please remember though Abercastle Campsite is a quiet site.

The facilities are permanent individual room facilities that include a flushing toilet, shower, wash hand basin and washing up sink. There are up to 5 of these facilities that are used, so plenty even in the height of the summers holidays. These are shared.

These are regularly checked and cleaned.

Enjoy camping with the luxury of good clean facilities.

When the campsite is quiet with just a few other campers enjoying their holiday here you may be given one of the permanent facilities to use for your sole use and if so would be given a key so you can leave items in it.

(On a couple of the pitches there are pop up pod facilities, which are great, that have a shower, washing facility and toilet, washing up facilities. The toilets are chemical disposal toilets that you will have to empty down the chemical disposal point ( easy to do and we will show you how to do and provide the septic tank friendly liquid). If these are set up this year then the pitch would have sole use of these facilities. In 2024 these probably will not be used).
